52 Week Challenge 2023!

January 1st, 2023
Happy 2023!

It’s January 1st, and that can mean only one thing… a fresh, juicy, succulent new list of prompts from our friends Alison and Justine, AKA Capture 52, AKA The 52 Week Challenge!

I hope everyone has had a ridiculously relaxing holiday season, but now it’s time to get down to business. Down below is our list of themes for the year, which have been taken directly from the Capture52 Facebook group (with their blessing, of course), and this is our first for the year:

Week 1 (1 Jan - 7 Jan) - In my backyard
This year we’re going to start at home, macro, portrait, insects, flowers, the ideas are endless.

Tags for this week: 52wc-2023-w1 (for here on 365), and #Capture52 or #Capture52week1 for social media.

I hope to see some of the usual suspects joining in again this year, and if you’re new to 365, why not hop on in and challenge yourself each week? It’s a fun, friendly and relaxed challenge with no judging and no competition – the only aim is to get inspired and explore some themes and techniques you might not have tried before.

If you’d like to find out more about where this challenge originated, click HERE, and if you’d like to get a notification when I post the weekly prompts, drop a comment below and I’ll add you to the list.

And finally, as always, big thanks to Alison & Justine for coming up with the list of prompts, and letting us follow along here on 365. If you’re on Facebook, do join the Capture52 group – it’s a lively, positive group for all photography types and skill levels.

January 1st, 2023
@30pics4jackiesdiamond @farmreporter @clearday @toinette It's my pleasure, but I can't take any credit for organising it - I just copy over the list of prompts and post them week by week! I'm glad you're all hopping in again this year - I have more time on my hands now that college is done, so I'm hoping to be more successful at the challenge than I was last year lol
January 1st, 2023
@m2016 it's that weekly commitment I admire!
January 1st, 2023
@30pics4jackiesdiamond LOL, it's become such a habit after all this time that I almost do it automatically!
January 1st, 2023
Mel - You missed Week 11!
I noticed this when I was putting the themes in my agenda ... I try to be proactive and organized but it does not usually work for the whole year. I do try though!
January 1st, 2023
@farmreporter Well spotted! Thanks for the heads up, I've fixed it now... anyone spots any others, let me know!

I had actually managed to put the wrong title against the wrong dates, and delete a whole prompt somehow, so for anyone who copies the list down, there are some corrections around week 10 and 11...
January 1st, 2023
Wonderful, thank you! Can’t wait to take part!
January 1st, 2023
Thank you for keeping this challenge going on 365, Mel. Always fun to take part and see how others interpret the prompts.
January 1st, 2023
Thank you for doing this challenge. I will try to take part in this challenge. The themes look like they will be fun, as they look open to interpretation.
